Ayurvedic
Consultations and Yoga Therapy with
Teta Barry, PhD, RYT Certified
Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher and an Ayurvedic Yoga
Therapist
Ayurveda, or the
“science of life” as its name translates, is the ancient holistic
medical system of India. It is at least 5000 years old and is based on
the idea that we are each a unique combination of the 3 “doshas”--“vata,
pitta and kapha”. A disturbance in one of these can lead to anything
from digestive disorders and skin rashes to more extreme illnesses or
psychological imbalances. Through various diagnostic methods (such as
taking the pulses, checking the tongue, etc.), Ayurveda helps us to
learn what our natural state of being is (how our “doshas” were at
birth), where current imbalances lie and helps us to understand what
foods, exercise routines or lifestyle habits may be contributing to the
imbalance. Finally, Ayurveda offers practical diet and lifestyle
suggestions that will help to bring the body, mind and soul back to a
state of balance. The wonderful part about Ayurveda is that it is very
individualized and treats the client as a whole being, always making
sure the recommendations are realistic and not overwhelming to the
client.
During your 2 hour Ayurvedic Yoga
Therapy consultation, we will:
• Review
your past health history
• Review
your current health concerns
•
Determine your “Prakruti” (original Ayurvedic constitutional type)
•
Determine your “Vikruti” (your current doshic imbalance)
• Discuss
in detail your present diet and lifestyle practices
• Identify
areas that may be causing doshic (constitutional) imbalance
• Agree on
a few simple diet and lifestyle recommendations to help you achieve and
maintain balance
• Design a
personalized Ayurvedic Yoga routine
•
Determine what type of meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises)
practices will support healing and balance
Cost:
$120 for the 2-hour consultation. Follow-up sessions, if recommended,
are available for $60.00 per hour.
Teta Barry, PhD, RYT, is a Registered Yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, a
